When I heard about the completion of the neon sign
repairs for Sapporo Beer, the symbol of the Ginza District in Tokyo,
I immediately took a break from our sales work and went to see the
place for ourselves; unfortunately, I was a bit disappointed to see
it because the design was too simple.
Imagine our surprise, then, when I heard another rumor and went to
see it flickering at night! Graphics similar to a huge television
were displayed all over the entire surface. I was even more impressed
to hear that the sign is constructed from neon tubes, not LEDs.
This sign is not only the grand sum of neon graphic expressions,
which have developed from Ryowa House in Roppongi to Suntory in Ginza,
it is also a work that showcases the possibilities of neon. |
