■ Request for Attendance from the Asian Sign Association ■ |
The Asian Sign Association (ASA) held the Sign Asia EXPO 2006
in Bangkok, Thailand from September 28th to October 1st and at the same
time it started the Sign/OHM Asia Forum. On the first day of the EXPO,
a panel discussion entitled “Problems and Challenges of OHM (Out of Home
Media) in Asia” was scheduled and attendance as a panel member was requested
to the All Japan Neon-Sign Association.
ASA was established in November, 2004 by the Advertising Sign Producer Association (Thailand), the Sign Association of Hong Kong, the Taipei County Advertising Engineering Association and the Korea Outdoor Advertising Association. Later, China and Pakistan joined and it currently has members from 6 countries. ASA has its headquarters in Bangkok and has had meetings in Taipei in June, 2005, in Bangkok in September, in Hong Kong in December and in Shanghai in July, 2006. Ms. Chiyoko Iwanami, our Editing Committee member, attended the Shanghai meeting as an observer. As for the attendance of the Sign/OHM Asia Forum, we declined the request to attend. Since we have been repeatedly asked to join ASA, we will discuss the matter in the future. |
■ Start of Website for “World Signs” ■ |
“The
Signs from around the World”, a unique photo and a light and witty essay,
which appears on the back-cover of every issue of our NEOS magazine are
now on the website.
Mr. Hiroyuki Ono, Chairman of the Tokyo Systec Co., Ltd. and the author of the World Signs Volumes I through IV, started the website as Volume V. The website is full of photos and essays on various parts of the world Mr. Ono has visited and would be interesting for not only the people in our business but also the general public. Many photos not used in the NEOS magazine are shown, therefore, it would be worthwhile to visit at URL http://www.sekai-no-sign.com/ |
